NIMO celebrates 80 years of innovation
From its humble beginnings in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1944, NIMO has grown into a global player with a strong presence in the international market, with products known for their high quality, durability, and energy efficiency. NIMO's 80th anniversary is a major milestone, marking decades of pioneering work in textile care and drying cabinets.
A long and successful history
NIMO was founded in 1944 in a garage in Jönköping by Sven-Olof Nilsson and Alvar Moberg. The company initially manufactured stainless steel products such as washing troughs and fittings for commercial kitchens and restaurants. In 1952, production was moved from the garage to an empty factory in Bodafors, and NIMO grew to become a major player in washing machine manufacturing in Sweden. The range was later expanded with lawnmowers, and when Olof Nilsson bought the rights to a drying cabinet, a new factory was built in Hova and the basis for NIMO's current position as the world's leading manufacturer of drying cabinets was established.
News and future investments
During the anniversary year, NIMO is launching a new product. The product is part of the company's investment and reflects the commitment to innovation and the environment.
- It is an innovation in sustainable textile care. NIMO is a classic manufacturer with a factory in Hova, but we also want to be part of a sustainable future, says Johanna Wallentin, communications manager at NIMO.
An anniversary to remember
The 80th-anniversary celebrations included activities and events for the company's employees. On May 23–24, the anniversary was celebrated with a study trip to the collaboration partner Electrolux in Ljungby, and on Friday evening there was a party at Norrqvarn.
- We have not stopped just because the company has been around for a long time. We have lots of exciting plans, says Johanna Wallentin.
